Meridian was invited by the Capital Health Network (CHN) to co-design a service model for delivering mental health services to LGBTIQA+ communities in the ACT under the Psychological Therapies Targeting Priority Populations contract.

Meridian facilitated a co-design process with LGBTIQA+ people to design a service model that would respond to their mental health needs and address the barriers to mental health services that they experience.

The National Standards for Mental Health Services (NSMHS) are owned by the Australian Government Department of Health and were developed in 2010 as part of the National Mental Health Strategy. Meridian commends the ACT government on its leadership in banning conversion practice and supports the government’s intention to make clear to practitioners, service providers and the community that these harmful practices are not to be offered in the ACT. Meridian supports the introduction and passage of legislation to assist in the consideration of complaints in this area.
