The Buzz Word

The Buzz Word - LGBTIQA+ AOD short stories for providers and community.

Meridian is proud to launch the first episode of an exciting video project offering alcohol & other drug (AOD) service providers valuable information about how to improve inclusive practice and understand the nuances and complexities of our diverse community.

Using a mixture of audio, video and animation, The Buzz Word gives voice to community and LGBTIQA+ people who may be contemplating their own relationship with AOD, may just feel like accessing services such as Meridian SMART Recovery may not be quite as scary as they imagine.

The Buzz Word features LGBTIQA+ community members from a variety of generations, identities, genders and sexualities sharing their perspectives, stories and candid accounts of Queer community, its reputation as “party-central” and the barriers many queer folk experience when thinking about accessing help in order to moderate or indeed quit their AOD use altogether. Also featured in The Buzz Word, our friends from leading AOD organisations, who share what role they play in the pursuit of person-centered and inclusive service provision for LGBTIQA+ people.
