Meridian invites you to a free 45‑minute information session on how the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) can support older people experiencing loneliness or social isolation, including those from LGBTIQA+ communities.
Through this free service, older people are matched with a volunteer who visits them regularly to provide companionship and friendship.
ACVVS is available to people who are socially isolated and are receiving or waitlisted for:
- government-subsidised residential aged care services
- Support at Home packages.
With the new Aged Care Act placing greater emphasis on diversity, older people’s rights, trauma-aware practice and the right to stay connected, ACVVS offers an easy and meaningful way for providers to demonstrate inclusive, person-centred care, especially under Standard 1 (ACQS 2026).
This session is designed for Care Managers, Coordinators, Unit Managers, Lifestyle and Wellbeing teams and anyone working alongside older people who may benefit from regular companionship.
A short morning tea will follow the in-person session, but you can also join via Microsoft Teams.
