Meridian has been providing inclusive support, advocacy and referral services to older LGBTQ+ people in the ACT region for over 40 years. We celebrate our LGBTQ+ elders and are committed to addressing the needs of older LGBTQ+ people, who face unique challenges, barriers and vulnerabilities.
We support all older people to access aged care and other services they may need in their community, with a focus on reducing isolation and loneliness, and fostering connections, respect and understanding. This includes our Care Finders, who help older people and their families to navigate My Aged Care and related services, connecting vulnerable seniors with community resources and helping to address evolving needs.
Through the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, we help reduce loneliness and isolation in older people living in our communities by matching older people with a volunteer who visits them regularly to provide companionship and friendship.
Our goal is to provide a safe and respectful space where older people can access the care and support they deserve to live their best life.
