Board Members (Volunteer positions)

Meridian is seeking motivated and experienced individuals to join our Board and shape a strong future for our communities.

ABOUT MERIDIAN

Meridian was established by volunteers in the early days of the HIV epidemic; HIV prevention and support for support for people living with HIV remain at the core of our work. Led by community, we have grown and evolved to also respond to the health, wellbeing and social needs of LGBTIQA+ people, sex workers and those who experience stigma and marginalisation because of who they are.

Meridian is an Incorporated Association and is a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. Meridian is governed by a Board as set out in Part III of the Constitution of Meridian Incorporated.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking motivated and experienced individuals to join the Meridian Board. As a Board Member, you will play a critical role in the governance, strategic oversight and sustainability of Meridian.

Board Members require a understanding of governance standards including duties and responsibilities as outlined in the ACNC Governance Standards.

Expressions of interest are sought for several volunteer Board roles including Elected Board Member positions and Co-opted Board Member positions to serve a two-year term.

Board Members are required to make the following commitment:

  • Commit 4-6 hours per month including meeting attendance and preparation.
  • Attend and participate in Board meetings (approximately 5 per year).

  • Enhance and safeguard Meridian’s standing and reputation.

WHO WE’RE SEEKING

As a peer-led community organisation, it is important the Meridian Board reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. These communities include people living with HIV, LGBTIQA+ people, sex workers and allies to these communities. People from these communities who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, people with disability or from diverse cultural and language backgrounds are particularly encouraged to consider nominating.
