A message from the Meridian President Andrew Robertson.
After more than 11 years as our CEO, Philippa Moss, has decided to move on and will be stepping down from the role at the end of June.

I want to express my deep and sincere appreciation to Philippa for the dedication and commitment she has shown. She has guided, grown, expanded and strengthened Meridian to be the thriving and financially stable organisation it is today. Her leadership and tenacity have given us a very strong foundation for our future endeavours.
Through her years of service, Philippa secured Meridian’s place at the forefront of achieving positive outcomes for our communities. Her achievements have been myriad, and I’d like to reflect on just a few:
- In 2015, she oversaw the not inconsiderable task of moving from Westlund House to Havelock House – its home ever since. The move provided a unique opportunity to reflect on the organisation’s history and protect the fascinating collection of local and national material that had been amassed over our first 30 years in operation.
- She oversaw and delivered two strategic plans to shape our trajectory over the mid to long term.
- She showed remarkable leadership in guiding and managing the rebranding of the AIDS Action Council of the ACT to Meridian ACT. This was a significant milestone and transition.
- Drawing on the experience and efforts of peer support so core to the work of the AIDS Action Council and Meridian, she helped to drive research into the essential role of peer-led services and organisations in meeting the health needs of LGBTIQA+ people in Australia – a critical and much-needed contribution to the sector.
- And during her time as CEO, Meridian continued to develop and deliver an ambitious program of activities aimed at contributing to the elimination of HIV and improve sexual health, improve access to quality services for people living with and impacted by HIV, create a safer and more inclusive community, and improve access to inclusive and knowledgeable health and wellbeing services for people who require support around gender identity and sexuality.
I would also like to acknowledge the team Philippa has built in Meridian – without whom none of this would have been possible. Their dedication, support and hard work underpin the success we as an organisation have achieved.
Philippa will be missed – she has been tireless in her efforts and re-shaped our organisation to better serve a broader community with much needed services. We are also grateful for the support Philippa will provide in the coming months as we embark on our search for new leadership. We all join together in wishing her well in her next endeavours.
