LGBTIQ+ tea dance

Step onto the dance floor and into a space of joy, connection and celebration.

We invite our LGBTIQ+ community members, especially our rainbow elders and their allies, to join Meridian and acclaimed artists All The Queen’s Men for an afternoon dance on 18 April at Ainslie Arts Centre!

This all-ages event invites you to move your body, share stories and connect with others in a relaxed and uplifting environment. It is part of the LGBTIQ+ Elders Dance Club project, which hosts welcoming, inclusive gatherings created especially for older members of our rainbow community (50+), along with friends, allies and carers, as part of a broader commitment to creating spaces where our elders feel visible, valued and celebrated.

The event will bring together the classic traditions of tea dances with queer community culture, all wrapped in an atmosphere of fun music, great local performers and joyful connection.

Expect great music spanning the decades, gentle guided dance moments, and plenty of time to socialise with community members and allies across the generations over some light refreshments. This event is for everyone, whether you’re a lifelong dancer or just keen to tap your foot and enjoy the atmosphere. There’s no pressure, no expectations, just a room full of warmth, laughter and community spirit.

We’ll also be providing information about our Aged Care Volunteer Visiting program for those who want to continue the community connection after the dance.

Come solo or bring a friend. Dress up if you like. Dance how you feel.

All bodies. All identities. All welcome.

RSVP now through the form on the top right of this page!

All The Queen’s Men is a queer, feminist and artist-led community-engaged arts organisation. They unite people of all shapes, sizes and identities together in distinct, collective and creative experiences.
